Belle & Sebastian lead singer and songwriter, Stuart Murdoch, writes and directs this warm and sentimental picture brimming with musical charm. Emily Browning (Sucker Punch) leads a young cast full of verve and enthusiasm.
Eve (Browning) escapes from a psychiatric hospital and makes her way to Glasgow, hoping to become a musician. At a gig, she meets James (Olly Alexander, Gulliver’s Travels), a lifeguard and aspiring songwriter. He introduces her to his guitar student Cassie (Hannah Murray, Skins). The three quickly become friends and form a band called God Help the Girl along with some local musicians. However, after James discovers that Eve is seeing someone, tensions grow within the group. This is a charming offering from an inspired Scottish musical storyteller.
